Remote Learning Day 27

Remote Learning Day 27
Dear ARCS Community,
It is hard to believe that we have entered the 8th Week of Remote Learning, Day 27! I hope that you had a good weekend, and that you were able to enjoy time outside. The weather was beautiful!
Governor Murphy announced today that school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year. While this was not unexpected, it is still difficult to fathom not returning to our building. In the end, it appeared that returning to school could not meet the standards that the governor established for “reopening.” Given the number of COVID-19 cases that are still occurring in New Jersey, this decision was based on keeping our students, teachers, staff, and parents safe and healthy.
We will continue with remote learning until the end of the school year. Our students have been awesome in the way that they have taken on this challenge, and our teachers continue to search for ways to keep the students engaged. Each time I visit a Zoom class or view FlipGrid videos, the student’s smiles and level of engagement brings joy to my heart! I remain so grateful to our teachers, our students and our parents for everything that they have done to move through these remote learning days.
Attached to this email is a memo from Father Hughes, Vicar General, regarding the schools within the Diocese of Camden. While there will be more information coming in the days ahead regarding the end of the school year, Confirmation, First Eucharist, and PreK and Kindergarten step-up ceremonies, we are particularly aware today of our 8th Graders. They will be finishing their days at ARCS in a much different way than anyone could have anticipated, however, we are deeply committed to honoring and celebrating their graduation and the beginning of their high school days.

Yesterday was appropriately Good Shepherd Sunday. Let us lean into the love of Jesus and ask him to continue to be with us during the days and weeks ahead. We journey together in faith, and together we will make it through to the other side!
Prayerfully,
Joan Dollinger
