Remote Learning Day 51

Remote Learning Day 51

Greetings, ARCS Families!

We are on Day 51 of remote learning!  Hoping that you and your children enjoyed the blessings of this beautiful day!  I apologize for just now sending today’s update as it was an incredibly full day!

I had the opportunity today to “visit” KIndergarten through Flipgrid to see the children tell about their favorite Superkids characters.  2nd Grade also had the opportunity to write about their favorite characters.  Everyone did an AMAZING job, and it was fun to learn about why the students liked Golly, Icky, Hot Rod, Lily, and the other characters.

This year we adopted Superkids for our Kindergarten – 2 literacy program.  Superkids is an incredibly comprehensive English language arts curriculum that uses evidence-based practices to develop each child’s literacy skills. The program makes every minute of the literacy block count with word work (phonics), reading, and writing.  The same characters travel with the students for the three years, and the students love learning about their adventures!  During remote learning, Superkids provided guided instruction for the children that helped them tremendously.  While this has been a learning year for us, we look forward to many more adventures with Superkids next year!

Mystery stories were written recently by our 5th Grade language arts students, and they were amazing.  The students were given four unusual pictures from which to choose one to serve as inspiration for the setting of a mystery story.  All the stories that I read included well-developed characters, setting, problem, climax, solution, and many techniques they learned during the year to “spice up” their writing.  They are ready for the challenge of Junior High writing!

Thank you to everyone who  reached out this week to Mrs. Smith regarding outstanding balances.  We are most grateful!  As I shared previously, we certainly recognize and appreciate that these COVID-19 days have been difficult for many families. We continue to work hard to make necessary accommodations for those who reached out to us.  If you have not done so, please contact Mrs. Smith at  Thank you!

We will have our final liturgy on Friday, June 12 via our school’s Facebook channel at 9:00 AM.  We hope that everyone can join us!

Please remember to register for our Virtual 5K Walk/Run, which has been extended to June 30.  The application is on our website at   The virtual walk/run is a great opportunity for exercise, and a great way to raise funds for scholarships!  You can share the registration form with relatives and friends near and far!

If you have not ordered your 2019-2020 Yearbook, please do so as soon as possible!  The yearbook is beautiful!

Please pray for the diocesan team that will be gathering tomorrow via Zoom to begin planning for the 2020-2021 School Year.  This is very important work, and the team is grateful for your prayer.  Be on the alert for updates!

May we continue to hold in prayer our health care workers, first responders, those affected by COVID-19, all those providing needed goods and services, our families, our teachers, and ourselves. We also pray for healing in our country.

Thank you for your continued support!

God’s richest blessings,

Joan Dollinger
